Welcome to John Anthony Wine & Spirits

Founded by John Anthony Truchard from humble beginnings in vineyard management, employing skills learned from his father and other Napa Valley pioneers in the 1970’s. John Anthony Vineyards was the first label launched in 2003, comprising of stunning single-varietal and vineyard-designate Napa Valley wines with a focus on classic Bordeaux varietals. 

During the 2008 economic downturn, John saw an opportunity to bring approachable, high-quality California wines to more people. What started with the original JaM Cabernet has grown into a powerhouse lineup, including Butter Chardonnay, ButterCans, NEW ButterLight, NEW Butter Sauvignon Blanc, NEW Butter Pinot Noir, Butter Cabernet, and Butter Bubbles. Today, Butter Chardonnay is now the #2-selling Chardonnay in the U.S. at $13 and above. 

Inspired by finding like-minded winegrowers in the emerging Paso Robles appellation, Serial Wines joins the John Anthony Wine & Spirits portfolio. This series of wines showcases Paso Robles and its sub-AVAs and Districts. Weather Wines is a return to John’s farming roots. Taking on the challenge of sensitive Burgundian varietals, Weather selects cool-climate sites across California to produce pinot noirs and chardonnays that express the elements.
